Elizabeth Lueth is a visual artist and photographer with a focus on conceptual portraiture, social and environmental issues, and the empowerment of women.

This piece is representative of the “negative space” in relationships and the emotional scars that events in a woman’s life can leave that increase that space. The mementos to the side of the main relationship are reminders of past experiences that keep the two separated from fully connecting, at least initially. The string tying the two together reminds us of the delicate nature of a new-formed connection and how, over time, that connection can build to something substantial and impossible to tear away without losing a bit of yourself. It speaks to the strength of a bond formed through mutual trust and effort.
